Dubbed the most wholesome family event of the summer, the second annual Ocho Rios International Regatta will take place Emancipation Day, Friday August 1, 2014 at Pearly Beach, near to Dunn’s River, St Ann. The Ocho Rios International Regatta was designed to be one of the most complete events for family entertainment, targeting families who want wholesome entertainment for all family members. Set on a beautiful white sand beach near the world famous Dunns River Falls, the Ocho Rios International Regatta offers the flexibility of a beach for swimming, Kids village and on stage entertainment with cultural performances. Audience participation in competitions like eating and drinking contests and even answering questions for spot prizes will also be a big part of the day’s activities. Patrons will also be treated to the thrills of sharing in the judging of the fishing competition, swimming competition, boat races and even the celebrity chef cook off. There will also be two separate concert hours with the first being a cultural show starting at about 4 p.m. featuring several budding cultural artistes backed up by many-time festival song winner Eric Donaldson to close that segment. The second performance segment will be a Gospel concert to bring the curtains down on the day’s activities. That concert will feature the likes of Sandra Brooks, Jabez, Lt. Stitchie, KuKudo, Sista Sasha and Omari, just to name a few.

KIDS VILLAGE

Vendors have been invited to provide a wide variety of food, including sea food dishes such as shrimp and lobster. Boston Jerk is also expected to be on hand. A top quality Kids Village is to be available to the children, provided by Bounce Out Party Score which provides rides and slides to events all across Jamaica. Even computer games will be among the attractions in the Kids Village which will have its own set of give-away and spot prizes throughout the day. With the white sand beach, the two concerts, food, sea and land competitions, give-aways and good clean music, the Ocho Rios International Regatta is prepared to stick its head out as the most wholesome family event this summer. This is a position, principal director of HNL promotions, Hansley Berry is prepared to defend. Berry a businessman and pastor noted that the regatta has been carefully planned to provide a clean safe and entertaining event; one that should provide something for everyone catering for all age groups. “I am tired of hearing my business colleagues and church brothers and sister complaining that there is little or no event they can take their families to on weekends or public holidays like Emancipation Day. It is for this reason my partners and I have decided to create this event.” He said now I that he and others have made the effort and invested heavily in creating the Ocho Rios International Regatta, those wanting good clean family entertainment will come out and support it to ensure its success and continuity. Adult patrons will be asked to pay $800 presold and $1000 at the gate to enter Pearly Beach for the regatta while children will pay $500. There will also be live radio broadcast from IRIE FM. Shuttle service will also be provided for patrons from both the Ocho Rios and Runaway Bay regions. The Ocho Rios Shuttle will leave from the Ocho Rios Jerk Centre while the Runaway Bay shuttle will take patrons from the vicinity of the Runaway Bay police station.
