Three Hills lifts T/20 trophy after beating Jacks River

Three Hills Titans lifted the T/20 Fitzroy Wilson-sponsored cricket title in the finals at the Boscobel Primary School grounds, St Mary, on Sunday, December 22.

They defeated Jacks River Razors in a thrilling match, following the opener for third place between Mango Valley and Boscobel.

Batting first, Jacks River was bowled out for 137, in 18 overs. Top scoring was Kamar Silvera with 60, Lesmond Lewis 32  and Orane Farr 18. For Three Hills, the pick of the bowlers were: Thrace Thyrell five wickers for 24 runs in four overs and Renford Pinnock with three wickets from his four overs that yielded 13 runs.In their turn at bat, Three Hills overhauled Jacks River’s score in the eighteenth over, reaching 138 for 6. That score was mainly due to a solid knock of 59 not out from Anthony Walters. Ronald Gooden chipped in with 18. The outstanding bowler for Jacks River was Daren Walker who took 3 for 32 off three overs. Three Hills Titans had great support from the crowd.Commentator, Canute Gibbs kept the crowd updated with the runs and action on the pitchIn the earlier preliminary match, a seven-over a side fixture, between Days Mountain and Boscobel Warriors, Days Mountain Strikers were victorious, placing third in the competition. They scored 81 runs for the loss of six wickets, with a fiery 29 from Romeo Mc Dowell and 17 from Jessie Alexander. Olonso Robinson got three wickets for  Boscobel. In their turn at the wicket, Boscobel Warriors crumbled to 47 all out with Robert Weir making 10. M Davis broke the back of their batting with a six wicket haul.

Days Mountain took the third place prize of $10,000; Jacks River  $20,000 and first place winners Three Hills Titians the top prize of $40,000. Herman Henry was awarded with cash prize for the most runs made and Alwayne Williams received cash prize of $5000 for being the most valuable player.  Councillor for Boscobel division  in  the St Mary Council, and organizer of the T/20 cricket competition, Fitzroy Wilson congratulated the winning team on their victory. He said they played exceptionally well throughout the entire competition which commenced on November 3, 2013.Mr Wilson also stated that come next year there will be improvements in cash prizes and more to offer to the players. He thanked the supporters, sponsors and the people from the nearby communities in making the competition a

success.
