The St Ann cop who was arrested and charged for last year July’s murder of a vendor in Brown’s Town, had his case put off until next week Tuesday, October 28, when it will again be mentioned.

Constable Ricketo Graham is charged for the July 12, 2013, murder of 21-year-old Brown’s Town vendor, Christopher Hill.

Constable Graham appeared in the St. Ann Circuit Court before Justice Courtney Daye on Monday, October 13. His bail was extended.

When Graham appeared in court, the court was told that the accused had not properly instructed his attorney, Oswest Senior Smith. Justice Daye has ordered the accused to settle his legal representation ahead of his next court date.

Constable Graham was arrested and charged on Friday, July 19, 2012, for the murder of Hill, who was shot twice and left wounded and subsequently succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Hill was said to have been shot and wounded at about 5:55 a-m at Wesley Crescent in Brown’s Town. The INDECOM report in the matter stated that the police alleged that Hill had a knife and was shot after he refused to obey police orders to stop and not advance on them.

After Hill was shot he was reportedly left by the roadside.

Hill was later taken to hospital and admitted in serious condition. He died on Sunday, July 14, 2012, but not before giving the police a statement of what happened. Hill told relatives, including his mother, that he had been shot by the officer and his body dumped as the police thought he was dead.

Graham who had been patrolling with another cop at the time of the shooting was arrested and charged for murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice, following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). It was one of the swiftest processes in the charging of a cop for murder.
