Ce’Cile
Recording artist Ce’Cile hopes to give fans more than they’ve become accustomed to in her latest album entitled ‘Still Running’. The 16-track set, the singer’s third studio effort, was slated to be released on October 14. Co-produced by Vinny Vindetto, John FX and Ce’Cile, the project will be distributed by Zojack Worldwide. ‘It’s not a reinvention of me or anything, but Jamaica has never got a chance to hear a more rounded and acoustic side of me. I just want fans to hear a more correct version of who Ce’Cile really is vocally and lyrically’. The 40-year-old singer said she is not worried about her fans not embracing her new musical thrust. Among the track listings are ‘Do You Know’, ‘On the Run’, ‘One Love ‘and ‘Turn it Up’. The latter was released on August 28. “‘Do You Know’ is one of my favourite tracks, as the words are powerful. It’s basically encouraging persons to love themselves and that they are beautiful no matter the skin they are in, or if they are considered to be odd, or different to others,” she said.
John Holt
Reports are that arrangements are being made for the body of John Holt to be flown home. Holt died recently in England from cancer at the age of 69. His family is reportedly “coping, taking it one day at a time.” According to reports, Holt was at home, doing well while getting treatment until sometime week before last. He reportedly developed a fever and was taken to hospital where doctors said he had an infection, which caused his temperature to rise. He was then transferred to intensive care for a few days where he started to improve until Friday, October 17. Holt is survived by his wife Merl, three sisters, three brothers and 23 children.
Lady Saw’s Ego
Dancehall diva Lady Saw is currently focusing on the release of her brand new album ‘Alter Ego’, which is due out next month. She spoke with Hip news about the album’s launch. And even though the Lady Saw Foundation is not up and running just yet, Lady Saw already has plans to use her album to aid the charity.
Aidonia on tour
Following on the heels of his performance in the twin island republic of Trinidad & Tobago, dancehall artiste Aidonia, departed the island recently, for Europe on a 20-city tour, commencing in Amsterdam.The entertainer is expected to return to the island in mid-November in time to premier a pair of videos for his street bubblers ‘Love Off Yuh Gyal’ and ‘Ryder’. The tour comes on the heels of his One Voice Foundation and Scholarship programme launched at the Maxfield Park Primary School, geared towards rendering financial assistance to students, annually.

Popcaan and Black Ryno
Dancehall artistes Popcaan and Black Ryno have rekindled their friendship following a public feud, which started in 2010 after Black Ryno announced that he was leaving Vybz Kartel’s Gaza camp. “Everything between me and Popcaan always been good, a just the people never see me and the artiste. But everything good else I wouldn’t have turned out at his album launch recently and performed,” Black Ryno told Hip News.
I Wayne’s fight
Reggae artiste I Wayne is asking the local music industry to promote more music with positive content in order to reduce the rate at which society is drifting into what he sees as a path of immorality. According to the reggae artiste, known to be an advocate against prostitution, violence and other ills in society, though reggae music is regaining popularity, smut is still over promoted in the media.
When accused of using music to influence negativity, many artistes are known to use the popular excuse that music is art imitating life and is not a causal factor in the prevalence of crime, violence and immorality. However, I Wayne believes artistes who use that excuse to defend their production of music with lewd content are hypocritical. According to I Wayne, the same artistes who argue that songs with violent content do not influence society, will also tell you that positive music will influence positive behaviour whenever that excuse suits the promotion of a song with positive content. I Wayne says if positive music can influence positive behaviour, then negative music is just as influential. “When they do a positive song they say it is to influence the youth. Yet when they do a negative song they say it doesn’t have any negative influence and how they are not responsible for parenting, and that is hypocrisy. So mi a try mi best fi keep the vibes clean and sort out what mi can,” the reggae artiste said.

Snoop Dogg vs Iggy Azalea
It didn’t take a lot for T.I. to get Snoop Dogg to apologize for the way he went in on Iggy Azalea earlier this month. It was a nasty online battle when Snoop posted a joke about Iggy online and she fired back with a much weaker strike. The iconic rapper was not about to let Iggy have the last word, so he went all the way in on her. Instead of going shot-for-shot with Snoop, Iggy sat back as T.I. came to her defense behind the scenes and got his fellow lyricist to apologize to the female rapper.
