File still not ready in gun complaint against Dr Dayton Campbell

dayton

The St Ann police have still not completed the file to be sent to the office of the director of public prosecutions (DPP) for a ruling in the matter concerning Member of Parliament for North West St Ann, Dr Dayton Campbell and one of his constituents.
This arose out of an altercation between the MP and PNP activist at the Discovery Bay playfield on Monday evening, March 2.
Police were brought into the matter after the activists, identified asAnthony Biggs, reported to the police that Dr Campbell had pulled his gun on him during an altercation at the playfield.
Reports are that Dr Campbell and some of his key supporters and executives of the Dry Harbour Division and the NW St Ann constituency were at the playfield where work had taken place on the field as well as on the community centre building. It has been proposed that the centre should be named after sitting councillorArthur Clemetson. An investigation by The Timessuggests that Dr Campbell, his councillor caretaker for Dry Harbour Division Fitzroy Phillpots and other party executives and supporters were at the community centre about 7 p.m. Monday, March 2,for a meeting.
It is alleged that Anthony Biggs, also called ‘Reds’, unemployed of Belle Air, came on the scene complaining about how work was being given out and of not getting any contracts. He complained specifically about a contract for a piece of roadway that has become contentious in the Dumbarton area and then demanded his own contract.
As party workers tried to calm Biggs, words were exchanged between him and Dr Campbell and a shouting match reportedly started.
There was some concern among the group at the grounds as the men started advancing on each other with Biggs now said to be in a rage. He was held and restrained by three men and reportedly kept seeking to set himself free, as he allegedly made threats.
Campbell reportedly pulled his licenced firearm
Biggs later reported the matter to the police.
Attorney-at-law Oswest Senior-Smith who is representing Dr Campbell says his client has been cooperating with the police and that he did nothing wrong. He said his client was also verbally abused. He says the constituent reported the matter to the police and Dr Campbell has also made a report to cops.
The Times could not confirm reports that Biggs was not continuing with the complaint against Dr Campbell. Up to Monday, police told the Times the investigation was incomplete.
