NOMINATION DAY IN NORTH WEST ST. ANN

eLCNORTHWEST

Police had very little to do in Brown’s Town at the Nomination Centre for NW St Ann where three candidates were nominated to contest the Feb 25 elections.
Nearly a dozen soldiers and police were on duty at the centre at the Anglican Church Hall, with other police patrolling the street.
Nominated were Graham McDonnugh, NDM, Othneil Lawrence, JLP and Dr Dayton Campbell, PNP.
The candidates from the two main parties were accompanied by hundreds of flag waving, cheering supporters wearing party colours.
First to arrive was NDM candidate Graham McDonnough of Home Castle, St Ann. He arrived alone and was duly registered.
Shortly after 12 noon, Othneil Lawrence arrived with hundreds of supporters, clad in their green outfit and bearing and image of his face on their ‘T’ Shirts and shirts. They were made to wait at the gate to the church hall where the formalities were taking place. After he was registered he rejoined the supporters waving flags and blowing their vuvuzelas and went east along Main Street.
Just before 1 p.m. former MP Dr Dayton Campbell arrived accompanied by hundreds of supporters, wearing shirts with his image. They also were made to wait outside the church hall. A large truck, covered in orange and carrying sound boxes and dancers belted out music, complemented by vuvuzelas while he was registered. The cheering dancing and music went up a notch when he emerged a registered candidate.
Up to an hour after the last candidate was registered partying for both sets of supporters was continuing in Brown’s Town.
