Woman reflects on brother hit by boat

Kevin Hal

A woman and her family have been plunged into mourning after a hotel boat hit their relative, killing him on Wednesday morning, June 15.

Hortense Hall, the sister of 39-year-old Kevin Hall, alias ‘Peppa’, of Spring Valley, St Mary, has described her brother as a very ambitious and very jovial man.

“He (Kevin Hall) was my closet brother and he was always there for me. He was very ambitious and he had a lot of business plans. He was also very jovial and always helping,” Ms Hall explained in an interview with The Times on Saturday.

Ms Hall, who lives in Portmore, St Catherine, explained that she had just recently bought a house and the work men were not really doing well and her brother had told her: ‘Me a cum up weekend to help you.’

“I am here sitting today and he will not be coming,” Ms Hall said last Saturday.

Reports are that Kevin Hall and his friend, Rohan Saint, were deep sea diving at about 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, near the Couples Tower Isle Hotel when a hotel boat hit them. Hall died.

“Nobody is taking it easy in the family. I am so distraught as I am trying to figure out what happened,” Ms Hall explained, pointing out that she had heard that her brother and her friend, Rohan Saint, were near the coral reefs fishing and the boat should not have been in that general area.

She said that her brother was not a fisherman, but did the activity in his leisure time.

“He operated a bar in Oracabessa and a cook shop. He also love catering and cooking at Christmas time with the family. He also catered for large crowds and events. Anytime we had a function here (in Portmore), we would always call on him,” Ms Hall added.

Kevin Hall had three children and his sister noted that he was always very protective of her and he took the time out to help her in any task possible. Hall is married to Dione, who resides overseas.

“He always had ideas and plans and he was a good problem solver. It is just very sad,” Ms Hall pointed out.
