Woman accused of murdering lover still on bail

A St Mary woman, who is alleged to have stabbed her lover to death apparently in a fit of jealousy, has had her bail extended.

Twenty-three-year-old Tracey-Ann Stennett of Valley Bush, Retreat, St. Mary is charged with the murder of her lover at his home in Rocky Hill, Retreat, St. Mary.

She had her bail extended when she appeared before the St Mary Parish Court on Thursday, June 30.

Several documents are still outstanding on the case file.

Stennett of Valley Bush, Retreat, St. Mary is charged with the murder of 35-year-old Leon George Harris, alias ‘Daddy’ or ‘Blacks’, a contractor of Rocky Hill, Retreat, St. Mary.

The post-mortem certificate and the scene of crime report are still not on the case file some months following the incident. The investigating officer was also not present in court.

The matter is set to be mentioned on September 22.

Reports are that on Friday night, October 9, Harris who had a relationship with Stennett, but did not live with her, was visited by another woman.

It was further reported that Stennett, who was dressed in her night gown, went to his house and, during a tussle, stabbed him. With blood gushing from his chest as he tried to hold on to the woman, he called out for his mother who lives nearby.

He was pronounced dead at St Ann’s Bay Hospital. The accused woman, Stennett was taken into custody the night of the incident.
