St Mary recorded its first two murders for the 2017, when two men were shot dead in separate incidents on Tuesday.
Dead are 50-year-old Steve Barnett of Portland and 45-year-old Dennis Davis of Boscobel, St Mary.
In the first incident, Barnett’s body was found along the roadway in Annotto Bay by a team of officers on patrol.
His body had bullet wounds.
Barnett was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police were then alerted to a house in Boscobel in St Mary this morning, after Steve Barnett’s body was found.
Reports are residents of the area heard gunshots sometime after midnight.
The police were not alerted until sometime after 7 am.
Barnett’s body was later found with gunshot wounds by the police.
He was pronounced dead at hospital.
Deputy superintendent Lorraine Elleston, who was on scene, is appealing to residents for information into the murders.
