File to be completed in case of man accused of murdering and robbing elderly businessman

The murder case of a 72-year-old businessman is to once again be mentioned on June 1 for the case file to be completed.

The man accused of murdering the elderly man in his house last year, was remanded into custody when he appeared before the St Mary Parish Court on Thursday, May 11.  The alleged murderer also reportedly broke into the house of his victim.

The accused man, Ricardo Taylor is charged with in the stabbing death of Ronald Gibbs, a businessman of Wentworth, Galina, St Mary.

Gibbs’ body was found with stab wounds at his house on Monday morning, March 8, 2016.

It is expected that by June 1, a final statement that is outstanding on the case file should be made available.

Taylor was remanded until next month.

Reports from the Port Maria police last year was that at about 6:40 a.m., a relative was looking for Gibbs and found him with what appeared to be stab wounds.

The police were summoned and he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police said at the time that several items were stolen from Gibbs’ house.
