Fresh concerns about crime in Lime Hall

There are fresh concerns about crime in the Lime Hall area following several incidents starting the weekend before Emancipation Day.

On Saturday night, July 29, robbers struck at the Lime Hall square.

Reports are that a group of men was at their gambling spot at the side of a business establishment when gunmen appeared, and held them at gunpoint. The men were robbed of an undetermined amount of cash and other values. A former resident of the area who lives in the USA lost the most as his wallet, with all his cash and important documents, was taken. He also lost items of jewellery.

After the culprits robbed the patrons they fired several shots in the air before making good their escape.
The St. Ann’s Bay Police responded to calls and recovered several spent shells.

Residents have reported hearing gunshots at all times of the night and day. This has led to police taking a tougher line on dances and parties being held in the area.

According to some residents, they would like to see a neighbourhood watch launched in the community and a Police youth club formed. They believe this would foster a better relationship between the police and the citizens.

The Lime Hall Square has now become like a ghost town as the residents get off the streets from as early or before 8 pm, because of fear of crime.
