A man was shot and killed and a woman shot and wounded in Ocho Rios, St Ann, last Tuesday, October 2.
Dead is 27-year-old Sheldon White, o/c Smurf, of Mansfield Heights or Falklands, Ocho Rios. Police reports are that White was among several patrons at Spotlight Sports Bar when up to three men entered and opened fire hitting him. Police say White was also stabbed several times.
A 20-year-old woman who was in the bar was also shot.
The two were taken to hospital where White was pronounced dead and the woman hospitalized. She was released Wednesday.
A senior police spokesman told the North Coast Times that White or Smurf was targeted. “They went directly for him,” he said. The policeman said there was no gang feud that resulted in the murder but this was just plain criminal action. “Somebody wanted him dead,” the spokesman said.
White was well known in the area and hung out at the bar on occasion.
Investigations continue.
